What is PHOTO HEALING?

PHOTO HEALING is a method based on art therapy

that utilises photography cooperating with pictures, imaginations and symbols. It might help you to map and heal mental scars, to tackle hardness and to support your recovery.

My name is Viola Kaulics and I graduated with a master degree in visual communication at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. In parallel, I also completed the pedagogy and teaching at the same university. During my studies, I became deeply familiar with art therapy and psychology. I functionally utilised and experienced the beneficial effects of the learnt art therapy and psychology throughout my fine arts career.

I was present in the contemporary photography for 15 years (I participated at exhibitions at home and abroad, e.g. Hungarian House of Photography – Mai Manó House, Hungarian Museum of Photography, Millenáris Park, Várkert Bazár, etc.). I taught photography and visual design for four years. During the period of teaching, I underlined great emphasis on personalized assignments, spiritual aspects, thus photo learning can be a guide of self-knowledge.

There is no doubt that visuality provides the most information among our senses. During visual perception, our brain believes what we see. This is the reason why a horror movie triggers thrilling feeling and/or it is a similar case with romantic scenes or footages of suffering. Whether we want it or not, the sight and the images profoundly affect us emotionally.

Everybody has its own individual and collective verbal dictionary. Similarly, our visual image dictionary also contains both individual and collective details. Having information about these details, we can decode and influence a specific mental process in ourselves; as a result, we can harmonize our souls and emotions. I have understood that the images / photos have even more power than I had learned before. It is clear that a properly directed task can have serious influence and soul-harmonizing role.

How can PHOTO HEALING be helpful for you and how should you imagine?

We can work together in cases of phobia, anxiety, mental closure, grief, break-up, lack of self-confidence or mental trauma. The first meeting starts with the introduction of yourselves and your difficulty on which you intend to work. The first consultation discusses these issues in detail and the task will be sent to you on the next day by e-mail. You will receive the task with a detailed task description.

In all the cases, the tasks are designed and written in such a way that they can be easily completed by everyone. You do not require any prior photographic or visual training, and it can also be carried out by a phone. The goal is not to create a “beautiful” image. It is not really important whether the created image is exciting from a photographic point of view or not, but the spiritual process is rather important, i.e. it triggers your individual visual communication with your unconscious. Subsequently, the series of pictures can be transformed into fairy tales. The reflection of the stories responds to your inner problem, it directly connects you with yourselves, and it can help you to sensitively look at your pain. The pictures that you create portray us the projections that are inherent in you, even unknown to you. Knowing the symbol systems and understanding visual communication, I help you to interpret these processes.

Basically, I recommend a consultation every two weeks, but this can be personalized, according to your internal needs and rhythm. This is always discussed.

The duration of the meeting is 60 minutes, the fee is HUF 12,000.

I welcome everyone who is interested in this form of art therapy on yourself!

Have a nice day!

Viola Kaulics

The first time when I met Viola, we talked in a calm, candlelight pleasant environment and this significantly helped me to relax. She listened me attentively and openly. When she felt the need to ask clarifying questions, she did it without any judgement. I felt that her main goal was to understand my problem as much as possible and I felt that I can tell her anything. I was able to fully open myself.
After such a good launch, it was not surprising that the given task was completely designed for me. I really liked it on the first read; although, it was difficult for me to start – it was difficult, like all the “work” that I have done on myself. As the days passed, I uncovered more and more layers of myself, I had more and more ideas about myself, about the given problem.
